Embraer Unveils Details on Legacy 650 Program

Two Legacy 650s are performing flight tests, with certification and first deliveries scheduled for the second half of 2010, reported Embraer during a press conference at the 62nd Annual Meeting and Convention of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), being held October 20-22, in the Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando, Florida, U.S.

The Legacy 650 is based on the platform of the super midsize Legacy 600, but compared to its predecessor the new model will provide longer range of up to 3,900 nautical miles (7,223 km) nonstop with four passengers, or 3,800 nautical miles (7,038 km) with eight passengers – approximately 500 nautical miles (926 km) farther than the Legacy 600.

To boost the aircraft range the manufacturer made extensive airframe modifications, reinforced wing and landing, increased fuel capacity – all that combined with new more powerful Rolls-Royce AE 3007A2 engines.

“Embraer entered the business jet market with the firm vision to become a leading and long term player, attempting to bring fresh, real contributions to the industry, and listening attentively to customers. The launch of the large-cabin Legacy 650 drives this purpose First flight of the second Embraer Legacy 650 large executive jet forward, extending our product portfolio to seven state-of-the-art executive jets,” said Frederico Fleury Curado, Embraer President and CEO.
